Nuts-and-Bolts: Changes to Annual VETS Reporting

After the reporting period for 2014, the Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS or the Agency) issued a final ruling that would modify the reporting requirements under the Vietnam Era Veteran’s Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) of 1974. In previous years, Federal contractors and subcontractors were required to report the total number of employees who belonged to a number of categories protected under the VEVRAA, in addition to the total number of protected veterans who were hired during the reporting period.  (more…)

Supporting Veterans in the Workplace

Every November, the United States sets aside one day to honor those individuals who have served and who continue to serve our nation. An end to hostilities took place between Germany and the Allied Powers on the 11th hour of November 11th in 1918, marking the end of WWI combat. In 1919, Woodrow Wilson marked November 11th the first Armistice, with the intention to recognize the day that the fighting ended. In 1938, Congress approved an act to make November 11th a legal holiday to honor the veterans of WWI. After WWII, Congress amended the act of 1938, changing the name from Armistice Day to Veterans Day, a day to celebrate peace and honor veterans of all wars.  (more…)

An Affirmative Action Plan or Affirmative Action Program (AAP) is a management tool designed to ensure equal employment opportunities (recruitment, selection, advancement, etc.) through the use of diagnostic analyses based off internal audits and reporting systems. For the past two weeks, we have blogged about the inner workings of EEO and VETS Reporting. Nuts-and-Bolts: VETS Reporting – Who, What, and When

September is officially here, and the September 30th due date for EEO-1 Reporting is fast approaching, which means the Veterans’ Employment and Training Service Reports (VETS-100 and VETS-100A) are due as well.  Similar to EEO-1 reporting, VETS-100 and VETS-100A Reports are compliance surveys mandated by federal regulations and statutes.  As mentioned in our previous blog post on EEO Reporting, frequently asked questions pertaining to filing include: Who needs to file; What do you need to report and why; and, When do you have to do all of this?
